Philosophy and Policies – Collaboration with Families, School & Community
Tuggerah Out of School Hours Care Philosophy
Educators and the Board of Governance of Tuggerah Out Of School Hours Care believe the importance of middle childhood for the development of cognitive skills (the process of thought), personality, motivation, and interpersonal relationships. Thus the primary development task of middle childhood could be called integration, both in terms of development within the individual and of the individual within the social context.
Given this, our Educators and Board Of Governance believe that all children need a safe, clean, healthy, happy and stimulating environment indoor and out in which to grow and develop emotionally, intellectually, physically and socially.
As educators we believe that all children have a right to respect, regardless of their abilities, age, sex, culture, background and religion. We provide an environment both indoor and outdoor that is safe yet stimulating and a program that challenges them through creativity, self choice, and learning through play.
We advocate open communication with parents for they ultimately play the most vital role in their child’s intellectual development. Parents and educators share a common priority: providing the best that they possibly can for the children. Working together we believe that optimum development and relationships will be obtained.
We believe that all children in our care aged 4-12 years will be encouraged to appreciate and care for each other and their surroundings and environments indoor and out. The children will be provided the opportunity for self expression, self direction, and self discipline through positive and meaningful interactions and directions in a welcoming and nurturing environment.
